Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare photo images for integration into an interactive media sequence or product.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment tasks include ongoing class exercises and construction of a high-resolution photographic document.
Assessment Tasks
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered as essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this unit are graded.

To demonstrate competency in this course, you need to complete each one of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard.
Formative Assessment
1. Photoshop selection exercise
Make a basic composite image using different types of selections in Photoshop. Due in week 1.
2. Photoshop CS5 Essential Skills foundation projects 1-3
Complete Foundation projects 1-3 (digital imaging workflow) from Photoshop CS5 Essential Skills. Due in week 2.
3. Refine selections, Quick Mask, Simple Layer Masks
Shoot and contour images using refined selections, Quick Mask mode and simple layer masks. Due in week 3.
4. Fashion brochure mock up
Build a fashion brochure mock up from supplied images to the specifications of a project brief. Due in week 4.
5. Adjustment layers curves exercises
Use levels, curves and adjustment layers to perform photographic colour corrections. Due in week 5.
Summative Assessment
6. Design a four page restaurant menu
Design Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn menus for an up market restaurant. Your design will include scanned and/or photographic images, formatted informational text and headline text. Due two weeks after the last class for this course.
