Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish and manage resources and other requirements for a particular production area. It builds on the skills found in the unit CUETEM01B Coordinate production operations and has links to other production management units, which relate to ’whole of production’ planning and management. A head technician, technical manager or workshop manager would generally undertake this role.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to establish resources for a range of productions and manage realisation of typical AV productions.
Details of Learning Activities
In class activities will include a range of
• teacher directed group activities/projects
• class exercises to review discussions/lectures
• independent project based work

• group discussion
Out-of-class activities include completion of individual design and pre-production work, preparation for class presentations and location excursions.
Teaching Schedule
Week | Class content All students must attend the first briefing class for this course and the next two weeks. During the first class you will be allocated a focus group for subsequent classes. The focus groups will meet once every 2-4 weeks or as needed. A schedule for these classes will be located on Blackboard. |

Overview of Assessment
Critical aspects of assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit are:
Effective communication with artistic staff, senior management, peers and subordinates
The ability to develop options for different production requirements and constraints
Extensive knowledge of specialist area, particularly in the area of resource acquisition and management
Assessment Tasks
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered as essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. summative assessment tasks in this unit are graded

To demonstrate competency in this course, you will need to complete each one of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback on all assessments and a grade for the summative assessment.
Formative Assessment
1. Prepare for and attend the production meeting for Location Lighting Production and manage the subsequent Location Lighting Production day. Due week 11 of semester 1.
2. Complete an industry practical placement arranged by you. Submit Practical Placement Folio comprising:
• Completed Log sheets (these provide evidence of what you did and how long your placement was.)
• Completed Employer report (will provide evidence from your employer in relation to employability skills during your placement)
• Video/ Audio/ PowerPoint/ Flash/ Written report further details of which will be distributed in class. Due week 16 of semester 2.
Summative Assessment
3. Produce the ‘Photo Storyboard’ production and ‘Variety Television’ production for the unit ‘Mix Television’. Due week 12 & 16 of semester 2.
