Learning Outcomes

In this unit students will develop knowledge and skills associated with planning and organising for safe and effective use of custom footwear construction technology and operations. This unit also requires an ability to check the quality of outcomes and identify and address problems relating to own work. Initiative and enterprise and problem solving will be used to combine a range of materials and processes to achieve desired design outcomes.

Details of Learning Activities

The course is integrated with LMTFP4002A Make patterns for custom-made footwear, LMTFP4005A Fit Custom made footwear and  LMTFP4004A Assemble Custom made shoe to form a cluster or learning program in the total development of a pair of custom-made shoes for a client (in this case client must be another class member to ensure that the correct shoe last is available and client is available for fittings as required throughout the program).

In this course you will be involved in theoretical and practical tasks.
• You will be required to undertake research outside of regular class times.
You will integrate skills across the design process & manufacturing process of custom-made shoes. With a focus on the use and experimentation of design & development  processes which will result in the production of a pair of custom-made shoes which meets the clients expectations and original brief.

Teaching Schedule

Week 1 to 16
Student to:-

• Produce one pair of shoes for a client (client is another class member so they will be on hand for fittings and have appropriate lasts etc).

• Negotiate design and production requirements with client including materials to be used. Finalise design and make requirements.

• Produce and check patterns for shoes.

• Produce prototype of shoes.

• Fit shoes to client requirement.

• Amend and adjust as required.
