Course Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to prepare photo images for integration into an interactive media sequence or product.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement.

Learning Outcomes
This role may be assigned to a graphic artist or, in a larger project, to a photographer who works closely with a programmer or interactive media author to publish required images.
The photography ranges from digital still composition to panoramas for the production of virtual worlds. Photo images can include landscapes, objects and portraits.
Details of Learning Activities
Task 1:
A series of photoshop exercises will be completed in class (1 to 7). These cover the basics for creating and / or manipulating both photo and digital images. These exercises are not assessable, however all students are encouraged to complete them as a foundation for the next 2 tasks.
Task 2:
This task involves the creation of a Materials Board. This will be a assessible task.
Task 3:
This final task will deal with creating a internal room perspective. This is an assessible task.
Self Directed Learning - Some activities will include a self directed learning approach, self-directed learning refers to organised activities that students undertake independently, either as individuals or with other students, that are supervised by a teacher. This may include workplace research and library assignments.

- Home computer - It is advisable that you have a computer at home on which to do your self directed work
- Software - "Photoshop" is not supplied to students for home use. It is encouraged that studets purchase a copy for home use for the duration of their course. Student versions cost around $200.
- Self paced online tutorial - If you find you are struggling with Photoshop, as an RMIT student you will have access to the Lynda.com website tutorials. This can only be done for free via the link below:

- Building 8, level 7 - 24 hour, 7 day a week access is available to the "open labs" in building 8 if you require the use of a computer. Booking may be required (and will ensure you have a PC for you)
- Building 94, level 5, room 13 will be available most nights after 6pm till midnight (refer to to timetable located on door of room). Note, an "access" form will need to be filled in and approved prior to use of this room.
- During the course, WMV files will be uploaded into the relevant blackboard folder for assistance
Overview of Assessment
Evidence of the following is essential:
• ability to use digital imaging software to prepare high quality photo images that satisfy the requirements of a range of briefs
• efficient operation of a scanner and digital camera to capture images.
Assessment must ensure:
• access to a range of resources and equipment currently used by industry, including:
• flatbed scanner
• digital camera
• industry-standard graphics software
• access to appropriate learning and assessment support when required
• use of culturally appropriate processes and techniques appropriate to the language and literacy capacity of learners and the work being performed.

Attendance:
The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that students attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.
