Overview of Assessment
A person who demonstrates competency in this unit must be able to organise, analyse and communicate information.
Assessors must be satisfied that the candidate can competently and consistently perform all elements of the unit as specified by the criteria, including required knowledge, and be capable of applying the competency in new and different situations and contexts.
Assessment Tasks
Task 1 : Design Terminology. Investigate dictionarys and add definitions to a Glossary, select new design words to add to Glossary and write a descriptive sentence.
Task 2 : Sources of Information. Investigate industry suppliers to obtain samples for a Materials Board and reflect on communication styles explored.
Task 3 : Client Profile. Select one of 10 room images, analyse and interpret the clues in the image to create a client profile of the owners of the room.
Task 4 : Analysing Information. Go to RMIT Library website and explore iSearch Improve your Research Skills and write a reflective paragraph on the learning.
Task 5 : Communicate Organised Information. Working in pairs prepare a written Short Report for an alternative, sustainable material/item from the Client Profile image from Task 3.
You will receive feedback with verbal and/or written evaluation of your progress within class time. The submitted projects will be assessed with written feedback as well as a quality indicator that relates to separate components of the project and the overall outcome. At the completion of the course, grading will be offered in addition to, and after, competency based assessment.

Organise & Communicate information is a clustered unit this will allow us to assess your project work against several competency.
Clustered with Organise & Communicate information, Soft Furnishings for Interiors & Prepare a material board. All components must be addressed to gain a pass in this course and be deemed competent overall.

Attendance
The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that students attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.
