Course Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain and evaluate the organisation’s occupational health and safety (OHS) policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area in accordance with OHS legal requirements

Performance Criteria:

2 Focus: Work safety and manual handling legislation. Lifting, lead rolling, gaffa taping and footing a ladder. NB After this class purchase some Nashua gaffa tape and practice gaffa taping and lead rolling at home.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment in this course will involve practical evaluations, written reports and class participation.


Assessment Tasks

Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative.
Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered an essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this unit are graded.

To demonstrate competency in this course, you will need to complete each one of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard.

Formative Assessment
Research project.
You are required to produce an individual written research project answering 10 questions on relevant occupational health and safety legislation and procedures. This is due to be completed in Week 5.

Summative Assessment
Practical work.
This practical work involves all the teacher directed group activities/projects demonstrating your ability to work safely and participate in OH&S processes throughout all relevant competency units in the Certificate 4 of Audiovisual Technology during Semester 1 (Practical work). To be assessed and moderated by all relevant teachers in course week 6, Semester 1.
