Course Description
This course is delivered in conjunction with VART 6073C Record Sound.
This unit will focus on supervised recording studio use and tuition, completing the final mix of material recorded in the “Record Sound” unit. Students will cover the practice of final sound mixdown in a professional studio environment.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to complete a multi channel music mixdown, utilising large format consoles, hardware & software processors through a variety of monitors.
Details of Learning Activities
Learning activities will include participation in a series of recording studio sessions which combine practical application with supervision and tuition from program staff.
Each studio session will be 4 hours in duration.
Extra editing time will be available using audio edit suites, which are avaliable by request.

Assessment tasks in this unit are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered as essential building blocks for more substantial summative assessment tasks.
To demonstrate competency in this course, you will need to complete the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback on all assessment.
Summative Assessment
Complete major recording project with work group. The work group will record, mix and complete a music studio recording utilising recording studio.
Assessment is holistically integrated with Record Sound VART6073C, Manage Production Requirements BUSM6224C and Operate Professional Audio Equipment VART6071C.

Attendance
The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that students attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.
