Course Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to recognise the core language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) demands of training and assessment, and to tailor training and assessment to suit individual skill levels, including accessing relevant support resources. This unit introduces trainers and assessors to core language, literacy and numeracy issues in training and assessment practice. Competence in this unit does not indicate that a person is a qualified specialist adult language, literacy or numeracy practitioner.

Learning Outcomes

The learning outcomes for this course will enable the learner to:

• address core LLN issues in training and assessment practice
provide evidence that includes:
• documentation setting out activities, resources and individual learning plans for a particular learner
• third-party observations of the candidate with a range of learners
• documentation of the use of the ACSF to determine LLN level.


Overview of Assessment

During the program you will complete assessment tasks in class which are listed at the beginning of each module.

Assessment also occurs throughout the program and includes:
• written work such as writing assessment reports and self reflections
• delivery of training sessions
• conducting workplace assessments
• participation in validation processes

There are also two workplace projects which you will need to complete. If you are enrolled in the Intensive program these must be completed six weeks from the end of the course.

When the unit is taken as a stand alone one, participants will be observed addressing LLN issues when delivering and writing a report after working with one learner.
