Course Description

In this course you will develop skills and knowledge required to source and organise information to assist in the development of the concept for work. The concept encompasses ideas, form and context for the creation of your own art work. This could include printmaking, sculpture, drawing or painting. This course describes the articulation of the creative process. In practice, you can integrate this with the actual production of work, as described in various specialisation courses. This work would usually be carried out under supervision.

In this course, you learn through:

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is on going throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through completion of a body of work that demonstrates concept development, understanding of materials and adhering to the guidelines of working in a studio.

Assessment Tasks

3 completed projects/relevant backup work

 1 visual dairy which clearly demonstrates originality and an understanding of sculptural production and personal development.

 A folio that demonstrates a command of techniques and which are consistent with conceptual vision

 Awareness of safe working practice in the studio

Assessment Matrix

 Evidence of research and analyses

 Willingness to experiment with concepts and media

 Understanding of application of various techniques

 Senstivity to materials

 Levels of responsibility and consideration in the sculpture studio

 The degree of participation in the course
