Course Description

This unit covers presenting proposed courses of action to meeting and defines the standard required to: seek information from sources of knowledge and advice; develop solutions on own or in small groups; design a course of action and documentation; present recommendations to a meeting.

Learning Outcomes

Details of Learning Activities

Step by step completion of a management plan for the Tyrendarra Indigenous Protected Area will form the basis of the learning activities for this subject. Activities will include:

1. Detailed Site Assessment of the area

2. Research into previous and alternative area plans with student critiques as a basis for building a new management plan model

3. Class discussion of over-riding Vision for the area, and various proposals for means of achieving Vision

4. Class debate concerning alternative means of achieving Vision.

5. Completion of management plan to Draft stage (individual and group work to be presented)

6. Presentation of proposed course(s) of action to a Traditional Owners meeting for approval and modification.

7. Final drafts altered to reflect Elder feedback followed by presentation to Fed Govt.

Teaching Schedule

Face to face on the last Thursday and Friday of each month

Weekly e-mail contact from Teacher requiring individual response by student each week (usually on Thursdays unless Winda Mara work commitments intervene.
