Course Description

In this course you will gain skills and knowledge needed to produce digital images for electronic media or print output.
You will be working independently on your projects with supervision and guidance as required.

Assessment 1. ‘The Office’ - HDR
Task: Correct the colour, straighten the distortion of the walls cause by the wide angle lens and manually blending 2 of 2 exposures of the same together
Purpose: To familiarize students with the application of
a variety of corrections required when process files for an architectural application.

Assessment 2. Glassware
Task: Process, refine and print the image of your glass subject that you made in you ‘Capture Images In Response to a Brief ‘ studio assignment.
Purpose: To familiarize students with the application of
a variety of corrections required when process files for a
print of glassware


Assessment 3. Architecture
Task: Process, refine and print the images of that you made in your ‘Capture Images In Response to a Brief ‘ location assignment.
Purpose: To familiarize students with the application of

Overview of Assessment

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and will include a series of practical tasks and photography projects.
 


Assessment Tasks

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessment to a satisfactory standard.
You will receive feedback on all assessment and where indicated, you will receive a grade. Graded assessment tasks are equally weighted and will determine your final result for this course.

Assessment Task 1: HDR ‘The Office’
Due Week 4 -– Week beginning March 2
For this assessment task you will blend 2 exposures to create 1 image.


Assessment Task 2: Glassware photography (This assessment is graded)
Due Week 8 -– Week beginning April 6
This graded assessment task is designed to develop your skills in refining images of glassware. Refine files photographed in your studio classes and prepare them for final print output.


Assessment Task 3: Architectural company exhibition (This assessment is graded)
Due Week 8 -– Week beginning April 6
For this assessment, you are asked to refine a series of images of the exterior and interior of buildings, and design an exhibition for an architectural company.


Assessment Task 4: ’Difficult to Mask’.Channel Masking
Due Week 9 -– Week beginning April 13
For this assessment task you need to digitally replace the background to an image provided by the teacher.


Assessment Task 5: Food Poster (This assessment is graded)
Due Week 15 – Week beginning May 25
This task is designed to develop your skills in refining images of food. Refine files photographed in your studio classes and incorporate text in the final print output

 

Assessment Task 6: Fashion layout or portrait of an artist (This assessment is graded)
Due Week 15 – Week beginning May 25
For this assessment, you need to meet the specific requirements for a fashion layout. Refine files photographed in your studio classes and prepare them for final print output.

Other Information

Attendance
The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that students attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency. Non-attendance may seriously jeopardise the chances of success in a course. Clearly, non-attendance at an assessment will result in failure of that assessment. Where visa conditions apply, attendance is compulsory.

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning

All assessment tasks are required to be completed to a satisfactory level. If you are unable to complete any piece of assessment by the due date, you will need to apply for an extension.
