Course Description

In this course you will be required to develop the technical and conceptual skills required to work in a photo imaging environment. People working in all areas of the photo imaging industry apply the skills and knowledge described in this unit. The effectiveness of any photo imaging activity is enhanced if practitioners are committed to improving their professional practice in both an artistic and business context.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment in this course is designed to assist you to develop your own style  as a professional photograper and personal development priorities. Assessment tasks will be written and oral.


 


Assessment Tasks

Assessment tasks in this unit are either ungraded or graded. Ungraded tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered as essential building blocks for more substantial (graded) assessment tasks.
To demonstrate competency in this course, you will need to complete the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback on all assessment.

Ungraded assessment

01. Research/Photographer Interview Selection (for Graded 01)
Identify THREE photographers to contact to interview for Graded 01. Present your selection in class.
Due in Class: Week 4

02. Competitions
Research and enter ONE photographic competition
Due in class: Week 12

Graded Assessment

01. Interview a photographer

Interview a professional Photographer in Australia, in person, using the supplied questions.
NOTE: Your chosen photographer must be approved by your teacher before you contact them.

Submission Items:

PART A: Photographer Research
- Look at the Australian photographer you plan to interview, introduce them and describe the elements that go into creating this photographer’s style.
- Formulate one question you would like to ask this photographer (that is not included on the supplied list).
Due in class: Week 6

PART B: Report + Oral Presentation

- Complete a report that summarises the responses from your interview.
- Oral Presentation: Present a (one sentence) statement that details ONE interesting thing you learned from the photographer you interviewed. To be delivered in class.

Report Due in class: Week12

Oral Presentation Due in class: Weeks 13-15
