Course Description

This unit is concerned with infection control responsibilities of employees with supervisory accountability to implement and monitor infection control policy and procedures in a specific work unit or team within an organisation

This unit does not apply to a role with organisationwide responsibilities for infection control policy and procedure development, implementation or monitoring

infection control measures and ensure they are corrected
or reported to designated personnel
3.7 Accurately maintain records of infection control
risks and incidents as required

reports to identify hazards, to monitor and improve risk
control methods and to indicate training needs
3.9 Report and investigate potential breaches of
infection control in line with organisation procedures

Overview of Assessment

Assessment will include demonstration of underpinning knowledge, and skills; assessment activities may include quizzes, oral presentation and written work.

 Task 1; Policy document (50% weight).

 Task 2; Report on workplace acitvity implementing and monitoring the policy document (50% weight).

Task 3:  Thrid Party Evidence.

Non completion or non-submission of compulsory tasks
Failure to complete any or all of the compulsory tasks listed above will prevent the student from achieving a CA (competency achieved) result for unit HLTIN403C. This will result in the student not completing the unit successfully. “NYC” (not yet competent) will be recorded and re-enrolment will be required to continue the unit/program. Fees will be incurred.
Please note: A second opportunity for assessment will not be granted unless the student has applied for and been granted special consideration as per RMIT Assessment Policy.
