This course is delivered and assessed in conjunction GRAP5337 Graphic design techniques and GRAP5339 Typography techniques.
Course Description
In this unit you will develop the skills and knowledge required to organise and realise a creative project from the development of ideas to the creation of the work. The result may be creative work in any media.

Details of Learning Activities
Learning activities will take place in a studio, workshop or classroom using industry standard tools and resources. You will complete exercises and industry style projects. You will also be required to undertake independent study.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills and will include tasks and projects.
The assessment tasks are:
Project 1 - folio submission - 3 stages 60%
Project 2 - Tumblr Blog project 40%

Assessment Tasks
Assessment activities in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment outcomes. Summative assessment projects in this unit are graded. To demonstrate competency in this course you need to engage in the assessment activities to a competent standard.
Certificate IV in Design (Full Year) Assessment:
A portfolio of resolved design outcomes for presentation
Project: Final portfolio production, presentation and branding, including developing and resolving an individual personal “voice” in this body of work. The content will be generated in other course areas in Semester 1 & 2, and then consolidated into an individually formatted portfolio presentation that could be transferred to online and other media application/s. Due week 16
Certificate IV in Design (Accelerated) Assessment Tasks
Formative Task 1: Video Storyboard A short exercise on primary research, intro to colour theory and recording processes. Due week 1
Formative Task 2: Research Project Researching contemporary and historical approaches to colour. The final outcome wil generate a range of potential colour schemes for the Music Festival brief. Due week 6
Summative Task 1: Emotional Colour A poster demonstrating the communication of emotion through the use of colour schemes and qualities. Due week 11
Summative Task 2: Colour Folio Reflection and justification of the use of colour for a range of projects. Due week 17
Summative Task 3: Online Folio A creative project that students will plan and execute. Due week 16
