Course Description

This course describes the knowledge and skills required by workers to meet individual responsibilities within a work group.

Details of Learning Activities

You will learn about all aspects of work in preparation for placement. You will create a current resume/CV, learn how to apply for a youth work job, and write a cover letter and other appropriate tasks for getting a job in the youth sector. They will also spend time in class discussing their experiences in the work place, how they approached those situations and look at how things may have been handled differently.


Teaching Schedule

This course is one of three course which focus on your  placement that as students are required to complete. Classes for this course are held throughout the year as per your student timetable.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment in this competency are a combination of written and oral class-based tasks, written assignments and work placement.


Assessment Tasks

You will submit a word written response to 4 tasks set out for you in their work placement manual. This is due at the end of October. It will be focused on your placement and look at things such as team building, supervision processes and the organisation’s Mission Statement.
