Course Description
This unit specifies the workplace performance required by a worker to contribute to work health and safety (WHS) processes where there is responsibility for own work outputs and possibly limited responsibility for the work output of others.

On successful completion of this course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate competency in the above elements.
Details of Learning Activities
The learning activities that you will undertake are:
• Class discussions – these will cover various aspects of WHS in the work place, as well as various approaches to situations that you might face in the workplace.
• Questions and answers – relating to various aspects of WHS in the work place, these will also focus on various approaches you might employ in various situations in the workplace.
You will also be required to undertake independent studies which relate to WHS practices in the work place.
Teaching Schedule
This course is delivered over four half day sessions during semester one. The assessment due dates are:
• Online Knowledge Quiz – 31 March 2014
• Work placement Task – 13 October 2014

Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course is based on a knowledge quiz and workplace assessment.
Assessment Tasks
For this unit you will be required to complete two assessment tasks:
- An Online Knowledge Quiz: in this quiz you will be required to answer a number of questions pertaining to WHS.
- Work placement Task: in this task you will be required to provide a written report that summarises WHS activities completed while undertaking placement. This will need to be supported by validated workplace documentation.

This program in delivered in accordance with competency-based assessment. The grades are as follows:
- CA: Competency Achieved
- NYC: Not Yet Competent
- DNS: Did Not Submit for assessment
