Course Description

This course will give you the skills and knowledge required  to identify work health and safety (WHS) hazards; assess WHS risks; and develop, implement and evaluate risk controls appropriate to your job role and area of work.

This unit is delivered and assessed with CUFLGT402A Set up, record and operate lighting cues and effects and CUFLGT301A Prepare, install and test lighting equipment.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester and will involve demonstration of practical tasks and testing of underpinning theory knowledge.


Assessment Tasks

This unit is assessed with CUFLGT402A Set up, record and operate lighting cues and effects and CUFLGT301A Prepare, install and test lighting equipment. To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessment to a satisfactory standard.

Assessment Task 1: Work Health and Safety Test
Blackboard test to assess your current knowledge of WHS legislation, understanding of risk and evaluation of a range of risk controls in given scenarios.

This assessment is to be completed at home between in classes 10 and 11, with verbal feedback in class 11.

Assessment Task 2: Production lighting work (Graded) at Bakehouse Studios in Richmond

 

You are expected to set-up, record and operate lighting cues and effects for various musicians, according to the plan, in an effective team, following OH&S standards and codes of behaviour.

Evidence gathering includes;

• Verbal questioning and observation to asses candidates range of technical lighting knowledge and manual techniques
• Verbal questioning and observation to asses candidates safe working practices and teamwork skills produced by the candidate
