Course Description
Being able to work effectively and efficiently with professional vision systems is important in the Live Production industry. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to set-up, operate, disassemble and pack up professional level video production equipment and associated lighting equipment.
This course is delivered with CUAPPM401 Contribute to the organization of productions (PERF 5080C) but assessed separately.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate competency in the above elements. Through the application of these skills and this knowledge, you will be able to:
- Select, set-up, operate and disassemble professional level video production and lighting equipment.
- Distinguish between different technical standards of equipment.
- Match lighting requirements to camera specifications and set-up three-point lighting.
Details of Learning Activities
Out of-class self-directed learner activities for this course include but are not limited to: additional equipment practice sessions, private research at selected equipment websites and revision of notes to reinforce classroom content. These activities will be reinforced during class through question/answer sessions.

Assessment for this course is ungraded. Units of competency are assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment. To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

For this assignment, you will submit a completed worksheet answering questions relating to:
-Professional video camera technical standards, operational features, capacities and limitations
-The role and responsibility of video operators in the context of live productions
-Issues and challenges arising in video operation in the context of live productions
-Work Health and Safety issues relating to video operation in the context of live productions
-Professional video camera set-up checklist
Operate Vision Systems Assessment Task #2 - Vision System Operation -Professional Video Camera Set-up (Open Book)
- Assigned Class 5
- Due Class 10-12 according to assessment roster
Working individually, you will set-up, prepare for operation and pack-up a professional video camera eg. JVC DVC 500, Panasonic P2-502, monitor and tripod within a time-frame of 20 minutes.

- Due: Class 3,4,5 or 6 depending on a production schedule roster.
