Course Description
In this course you will develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required by workers in community services and health settings to work in a consumer directed and oriented way with consumers who are living with mental health issues

Teaching Schedule

Class 1 and Class 2 (compulsory attendance required for both days)
- Students will be taken through the theory based on mental health including assessment, treatment plans, referrals, observation techniques,

- Case study assessment - based on a mental health presentation.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course is based on completing the following:
1. Students attendance all classes so they can successfully complete the theory and gain their Mental Health First Aid (Youth) Certificate. This will require 2 days
2. Students will also complete a case study

Assessment Tasks
There are two assessment tasks for this course:
- Students must attend the two-day class so they receive their Mental Health First Aid (Youth) Certificate
- Case study - assessed in class, students will be given a case study which will be based on a mental health issue. Their answer will show how they would treat this situation.
