Course Description

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to identify and work within the legal and ethical frameworks that apply to an individual job role.

This course applies to community services and health workers who play a proactive role in identifying and meeting their legal and ethical responsibilities.

Details of Learning Activities

This course has a blended delivery.  Classes are delivered online and face to face with demonstration of skill and knowledge conducted during face to face workshops.  Learning and information is shared through talks and discussions, and workshops where learning activities are conducted to apply learning.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment task 1: Short Answer Questions 

This assessment consists of ethical dilemma's, knowledge questions and legal requirements to demonstrate knowledge and learning of working legally and ethically in the community services sector.

Assessment task 2: Simulated workplace portfolio

This assessment is a simulated workplace and you will refer to the provided workplace documents on policy and procedures. Students will be required to reflect and provide responses relating to working ethically, legally and provide recommendations for workplace improvements.

Assessment task 3: Case study/Questions

Students work through two case studies and provide responses to prevent, address and manage ethical and legal issues that are presented in the workplace.

Assessment task 4: Role play

Student will undertake a role play to demonstrate recognising and responding to ethical dilemma's involving conflict of interest. Students will be required to discuss policies and procedures to support ethical and legal practices and provide recommendations for workplace improvements.
