Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to plan, prepare and implement group activities to meet individual client outcomes.
This unit applies to allied health assistants and should be performed under the direction and supervision (direct, indirect or remote) of an allied health professional.

Performance Criteria:

1.1 Obtain information about the purpose of the group sessions from an allied health professional and the desired individual client outcomes 1.2 Identify requirements outside scope of role and responsibilities as defined by the organisation and discuss with allied health professional 1.3 Identify and confirm impact of the program's contribution to the clients' overall care plan 1.4 Determine client availability according to organisation protocols 1.5 Determine client appropriateness according to client profile

Details of Learning Activities

This course will introduce you to the basic requirements needed to conduct a group session with clients. It will take you through how to write lesson plans and implement a group session.  Class activities and discussions will guide you towards developing and presenting a short activity to a group of fellow students.

  • AT1 - Written assessment- Due week 6
  • AT2 - Practical - Presentation and session plans Due week 5
  • AT3 - Placement logbook reflection- to be completed after placement.

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace.  

To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.
