Course Description
The ability to safety test electrical equipment and appliances (usually referred to as Testing and Tagging) is a crucial skill which is highly valued by employers in the live production, event and audiovisual industries.
This course will provide you with the competency, skills and knowledge necessary to safely inspect, test and tag electrical appliances.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate competency in the above elements.
You will be able to conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord assemblies and cord connected equipment through:
- Working safely.
- Physically and visually inspecting appliances.
- Using a portable appliance tester to electrically test appliances.
- Identifying faulty appliances.
- Apply Test Tags.
- Log records of inspections and tests.
Details of Learning Activities
Learning activities in this course include but are not limited to:
- practical theory classes working through Australian/New Zealand Standard 3760:2010
- demonstrations of equipment inspection, testing and tagging
- discussions
- practical exercises using Portable Appliance Testers (PAT)
- reading notes and other resources
You will be responsible for your learning and will be expected to engage in independent research, reading and study.

There are two assessments tasks for this course:
- Written Knowledge Evidence test (Open Book) conducted in class three.
- Practical Skills Assessment (Open Book) conducted in classes 4, 5 or 6 following an assessment roster.
