Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform edging and fitting of spectacle lenses and to apply techniques, treatments and processes to finish or repair spectacle frames and lenses.
This unit applies to optical dispensers who work according to prescriptions provided by optometrists or ophthalmologists.

A combination of activities will support students learning in this course, such as:

Assessment Tasks
You will be required to complete a range of practical edging and fitting tasks, hand skills and repairs tasks and neutralisation tasks. These tasks are located in the Workplace Evidence Log.
Assessment task 1: Practical Tasks: Edge and Fit 10 pairs of spectacles
Assessment task 2: Online quiz: this online assessment will prove competency in the essential knowledge required for this unit.
Assessment task 3: Workplace Evidence logbook: a collection of evidence activities to prove competence, knowledge and skill in a variety of elements and performance criteria across a range of units.
Please note that you will need to demonstrate competency in all assessment tasks in order to achieve competency for this unit.

Important information regarding Assessment Tasks:
Each individual assessment may only be resubmitted once.
Resubmissions are not automatic and will only be approved at the discretion of the Program Coordinator, after consultation with the teacher.
All students will be contacted with 7 days by their course coordinator in regard to resubmission completion dates.
Please note an opportunity to repeat placement (Full time students ONLY) is not guaranteed and will be at the discretion of the Program Coordinator/Program Manager.
EXTENSION OR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
If due to illness or other unforeseen circumstance, you are unable to attend on the due date of an assessment (e.g. test, examination, oral, etc.) OR you do attend, but your
performance has been affected; you may submit an APPLICATION FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION within 5 working days of the due date. If Special Consideration is
