Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to plan the assessment process, including recognition of prior learning (RPL), in a competency-based assessment system. It applies to individuals with assessment planning responsibilities. In planning activities and processes, individuals are required to identify the components of assessment tools, analyse and interpret assessment tools, and develop assessment instruments (also known as assessment tasks) and assessment plans.

Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

Participants have previously attained the superseded version of this unit of competency, TAEASS401B in which they completed two assessment plans and related instruments, including one for an RPL pathway.  The current unit TAEASS401 requires candidates to complete 5 assessment plans and related instruments, two of which must be for RPL. The students are undergoing gap training and will have their completion of two plans  in TAEASS401B recognised so that they only have to produce 3 assessment plans and instruments (one of which is for RPL).
