Learning Outcomes
Activities in this course aim to enhance your understanding of the relevant WHS / OHS laws, policies and procedures in the workplace, the IT industry and your organisation, and identify the responsibilities of those involved in the WHS / OHS consultation process.
It is important that you are aware of your rights and responsibilities in relation to your work health and safety and that of colleagues. You will also learn how to raise WHS issues in the workplace and then to participate in meetings in the workplace where WHS issues are raised.
This course enables you to develop the following capabilities:
- communication skills and the confidence to communicate in the workplace
- interpersonal skills to work with others to deal with WHS issues
- information gathering skills
- information management skills to source, obtain and share relevant documentation
- literacy and verbal skills in relation to dealing with WHS issues
- problem solving
- The knowledge of the roles of different people in relation to WHS issues
Upon completion of this course you will be able to:
- Source relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice
- Identify and analyse WHS situations
- Facilitate WHS development in the workplace
- Identify ways of improving workplace communication over WHS issues
You will use the Internet as a learning tool and a resource to seek and locate relevant resources and information.
