Course Description
In this course students research and experiment with various techniques and media for the realisation of paintings. The course outlines the way paintings are produced through the use of experimentation and ongoing refinement.
Students investigate the nature of what painting might be and considering this within a range of contexts - historical, contemporary, social and political. Painting is considered as not merely a material substance for personal expression, but also as a vehicle that implies how we think. Emphasis is placed on further development of painting techniques, applications and use of colour. The development of a personal research base is encouraged as a working method and this is linked to ideas of professional art practice.
