Course Description

In this course students produce prints through the exploration and application of a range of techniques, tools, equipment and materials.

This is a specialisation unit and refers to a specific art form encouraging experimentation with the unique possibilities of printmaking in creating original imagery.

Overview of Learning Activities


Details of Learning Activities

Identify the occupational health and safety aspects of printmaking materials and processes, and demonstrate safe working practices.

Familiarisation with basic bookmaking and printmaking terminology and conventions.

Establish an understanding of the unique possibilities of printmaking in the production of imagery.

Apply basic printmaking processes and techniques in the production of a series of prints in selected print media.

Compile a technical resource file that documents technical processes and serves as a resource for the development of original prints. This may be incorporated with the Visual Diary.

Assessment Tasks

3 resolved Projects.
Printmaking technical workbook (Containing technical information, notes and drawings in relation to processes and projects. This may be incorporated within the visual diary.)
Class participation and studio practice incorporating key competency completion.

Students are given a non graded mark (PX) at the end of semester one with written feed back.
