Course Description
In this course students produce prints through the exploration and application of a range of techniques, tools, equipment and materials.
This is a specialisation unit and refers to a specific art form encouraging experimentation with the unique possibilities of printmaking in creating original imagery.

Details of Learning Activities
The learning experiences will include practical demonstrations of printmaking techniques. The set projects will be specifically designed to make you aware of the unique possibilities inherent in printmaking processes and to open up new avenues of exploration for your own art practice. Individual consultations with the lecturer will give you the opportunity to explore the conceptual and technical possibilities of your approach to the set projects in greater depth.

Weeks 3-8 Project 1 ( Cityscape - Etching, Drypoint and Monoprinting)
Weeks 9-12 Project 2 ( Monochromatic Linoleum Cut)
Weeks 13-15 Project 3 (Colour Linoleum Cut)

Overview of Assessment
Folio presentation marked by a panel, with written response.
Assessment Tasks
Project 1 - Street Scene Panorama (completion of one resolved image, edition for exchange, completed construction of a concertina artist’s book.)
Project 2/3 - The Language of Pattern ( Completion of one resolved monochromatic image witha minimum edition of five. A minimum of four resolved unique state multi-block colour prints.)
NB: Students should note that preparatory work and experimental printing will be a major component of assesment.
