Course Description

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to prepare and confirm workplace procedures for use in a TCF enterprise.
The course includes:
1. Developing procedures and manuals by means of appropriate collation, sequencing and revision of specifications (and related information)
2. Evaluation of the effectiveness of specifications and procedures through the application of assessment techniques.
3. Collection and presentation of information by means of computer software and other appropriate methods.

Performance Criteria:

· Information required for standard operating procedures is identified and assembled

Performance Criteria:

· Specifications are written in an appropriate format, to ensure requirements can be met
· Special needs are incorporated into the specifications
· Specifications are written in a manner that is clear and understood in the workplace

Performance Criteria:

Information needed to establish the operating procedures and/or manual is collected, reviewed and interpreted in accordance with workplace procedures

Details of Learning Activities

1. Follow correct Occupational Health and Safety procedures
2. Collect information necessary for the development of procedures / manuals that are in accordance with workplace requirements
3. Carry out trials in order to evaluate any changes to specifications / procedures
4. Collate recorded information and present findings in accordance with workplace practices such as: use of Power Point presentations at formal meetings; use of common software (Word and Excel) or other specific software in the preparation of reports to management and in the development of manuals.

Overview of Assessment

Tasks that have not been authenticated in class as the student’s own work will not be considered for assessment. Regular attendance is necessary to demonstrate that you can:

1. Follow correct Occupational Health and Safety procedures
2. Collect information necessary for the development of procedures / manuals that are in accordance with workplace requirements
3. Carry out trials in order to evaluate any changes to specifications / procedures
4. Collate recorded information and present findings in accordance with workplace practices such as: use of Power Point presentations at formal meetings; use of common software (Word and Excel) or other specific software in the preparation of reports to management and in the development of manuals.

Assessment Criteria:
Satisfactory completion of 3 assignments incorporating
• Neat presentation and use of accurate working diagrams;
• Correct use of given methods and terms;
• Proper collation of relevant information


Assessment Tasks

Tasks that have not been authenticated in class as the student’s own work will not be considered for assessment. Regular attendance is necessary.

A research assignment that will set the context of the Specifications B course and assist in finding information for the second and third assignments. 20%

A research assignment to assist in becoming more familiar with the uses, availability and cost of different garment trims. 40%

A research assignment to develop a manual (A4 size) that shows clear instructions about how to finish and package a garment range. 40%
