Course Description

This course introduces students to cultural, societal, professional and institutional contexts relevant to carrying out paraprofessional interpreting practice in their pair of languages to enable them to comprehend messages in oral interpreting discourse, make appropriate linguistic (lexis, grammar, collection, register) choices, and to achieve accurate and impartial transfer of meaning across their pair of languages.

Successful completion of a bilingual intake test.

Learning Outcomes

Students are required to develop the following competencies:

1. Prepare effectively for interpreting dialogues.
