Course Description

Co-delivered with Maintain Ongoing Professional & Personal Development.

This theoretical course introduces a number of concepts necessary to professionals in general, and Interpreters in particular: professional role, concept of client, concept of ethics, concept of the other professional in the interpreted interview, concept of decision making, concept of conflict of interest, concept of ethical dilemma, concepts of accreditation and registration etc.
It covers the management skills and knowledge required by interpreters, both employed or self-employed, to effectively organize professional commitments and administrative tasks.
It includes a clear understanding of the professional role of the NAATI PPI and of the AUSIT Code of Ethics and Practice (AUSIT: Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators), and of the role and functions of NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters).
