Course Description

To provide learners with skills, knowledge and attitudes to become competent to:

• Use a range of advanced functions within software package. The packages include a word processing, spreadsheet, graphic, presentation and database package.
• Produce complex word-processed documents, spreadsheet models using formula and functions and effectively and in a timely manner.
• Manage, manipulate and present information in database files.
• Use industry standard software and hardware to create, manipulate, manage and print images and illustrations.
• Use the internet to conduct research.

Assessment Tasks

Learners need to demonstrate by means of a range of assessment tasks that they can:

1. Create and present information for an audience using presentation tools (Power Point). 3%
2. Design and apply suitable styles and formats to word-processed documents. Check for accuracy and layout. Save documents in specific folders on a computer system and correctly documented files. Develop templates and macros to ensure consistency of design and layout. 24%
3. Manage, manipulate and present information using a spreadsheet application. Use charts, advanced formula and functions to ensure the accurate completion of tasks within designated timelines. 25%
4. Manage, manipulate and present information using a database application. Create tables and set relationships within database. Create queries and reports. Construct forms from queries and tables and change the controls. 24%
5. Create and manipulate image designs and illustrations from design briefs according to enterprise standards for mood boards and presentations. 24%

• Assessment timeline: Progressive assessments plus a unit test on completion. This will include assignments, and practical demonstration of skills
