Course Description

This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to apply quality standards to work operations in a TCF enterprise.

PLANNED LEARNING EXPERIENCES
1. Quality assurance: practical activities relating to the role of quality standards: exploration of quality issues related to clothing manufacture
2. Maintaining quality standard: identification of individual and group responsibilities in maintaining quality standards
3. Interpretation of work instructions and specifications through examination of examples of quality standards
4. Types of faults; recognising deviations from quality standards by means of demonstrations and research activities
5. Methods of inspection: simulations or industry visits
6. Giving and receiving information on quality. Activities related to the identification of improvements and making recommendations. Examples of oral or written report

Learning Outcomes


Overview of Assessment

Learners need to demonstrate by means of a range of assessment tasks (such as written or oral tests and activities) that they can:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of how work activities in clothing production effect each other in relation to the quality of the final product.
2. Correctly follow instructions to produce work according to given quality specifications
3. Carry out inspections on own work and the work of others by checking work against specifications, samples or established quality standards.
4. Locate, name and note down types of faults found on garments
5. Investigate and report on the causes of faults by completing appropriate report work
6. Recommend suitable action to fix faults according to given procedures.
