Course Description
To enable learners to build on existing skills in computer aided design processes. Activities are designed to enable learners to interpret garment designs, then to develop accurate diagrams according to the principles of good fit and clothing production specifications.
The course includes:
1. Analysis of designs (by using a variety of media, such as trade sketches, sample garments, specifications sheets or client requirements) to identify design lines and other garment features such as pocket, collar and sleeve variations.
2. Selecting appropriate computer software/functions for use in diagram development and by identifying the desired silhouettes and fit requirements.
3. Adjusting diagrams according to fabric requirements by analysing fabric characteristics.
4. Producing accurate computer aided diagrams according to garment design lines and production specifications.
5. Producing a range of diagrams in electronic specification and catalogue formats.
6. Up-dating records by maintaining and storing files in appropriate digital and hard copy formats.
