Course Description

This unit encompasses the application of knowledge and skills to participate in store planning including floor layouts and fit-outs.

Element:

Design fit-outs for new and existing retail spaces

Performance Criteria:

On-site and existing retail space is accurately measured.

Business target market, customer demographic, style and desired ambience are negotiated with client/s.

Rendered visuals of proposed store facades are presented.

Fit-out plans including analysis and rationale for layout, traffic flow, customer needs, fixtures, fittings and budget are presented.

Grid and free-flow plans are designed to scale, modified and adapted to suit client briefs.

Performance Criteria:

Planning brief is confirmed in accordance with client requirements.

Floor layouts are designed to scale, indicating all components and how they interact with customers to create a total store image.

Plans presented include analysis and rationale for layout, safe and effective traffic flow, customer needs, image, ambience and style using both oral and written reports.
