Course Description
This unit covers the self-management skills needed to learn and perform effectively in the writing and publishing industry.

Teaching Schedule
Manage own work and learning is delivered and assessed within your Refine Writing and Editing specialisations. For example, you discuss the skills required to manage working on a desk-top publishing project, the development of a novel, an editing project etc.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment includes the completion of a written exercise and demonstration of competency through your chosen writing specialisations.
Assessment Tasks
Manage own work and Learning is assessed through a preliminary exercise specific to this competency. This exercise will be e-mailed to you by the unit coordinator on February 27 with directions on how to submit the assessment. The assessment is due by April 12.
Manage own work and learning is also assessed within your Refine Writing and Editing specialisation, by your writing teachers . Successful completion of the assessment will demonstrate competency in managing your own work and learning. See Refine Writing and Editing course guides for assessment details.
To demonstrate competency in this course, you will need to complete all assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback on all assessment.

Other Information
Submission of Assessment Tasks
You are required to submit all assessment tasks in hard copy with a completed School of Media and Communication cover sheet. You are expected to keep a copy of all assignments submitted.
Late Submissions
If you are unable to complete any piece of assessment by the due date, you will need to apply for an extension before that due date.
