Course Description
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to source, design, develop and construct prototypes and scale model(s) for a major public art project

Learning Outcomes
1. Research a potential site for a public art project within a specified area of community
2. Develop a proposal package including a written component, concept drawings and initial budget figures
3. Document community and corporate organisations with an actual or potential social, historical, environmental or fiscal investment in the project
4. Expand the initial proposal into a two/three dimensional model; including detailed budget breakdowns and a written rationale for the project
5. Produce a fully realised proposal in a professional package complete with all relevant information and carefully chosen support material
6. Give a formal presentation of the completed proposal to a panel of industry professionals and interested members of the community
Overview of Assessment
A series of projects and accompanying visual diaries
Portfolio of work – studies, projects and workshop outcomes developed throughout the year as class projects
Students already working in the field of public art have the opportunity to negotiate projects for assessment in the context of Work Integrated Learning.
