National Codes, Titles, Elements and Performance Criteria

National Element Code & Title:

LMTTD5009A Cost production of textile designs

Element:

1. Analyse options for textile production

Performance Criteria:

1.1Production requirements are analysed to determine scale of production
1.2Options for the production of textiles are determined in line with product specifications.
1.3Information on cost of each option is gathered & data is analysed.
1.4 Production options are compared in terms of their cost benefits and cost negatives.
1.5Information from previous production records are reviewed & compared with current options in terms of cost & in line with quality outcomes.
1.6 Potential options are selected & relevant information documented.

Element:

2. Assess influences on production costs

Performance Criteria:

2.1 Factors that may affect cost of production are determined.
2.2 Quality & industry standards for design production are identified & implications for production are assessed.
2.3 Production options are considered in line with OHS practices.
2.4 Influences on production costs are assessed & initial costing modified.
2.5 Production options are reviewed in line with additional information & most suitable options refined.

Element:

3. Develop and analyse costing sheets for textile production

Performance Criteria:

3.1 Costing sheets are completed for selected production options.
3.2Calculations are checked & data is collected.
3.3Data from costing sheets is interpreted to assess most cost efficient option from production in line with design & quality requirements.
3.4Cost analysis is documented & presented to appropriate personnel to review suitability of options.
3.5 Cost analysis is finalized & all documentation is completed

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge to demonstrate competency in the above elements.

Details of Learning Activities

Learning workshops will provide intensive-style information delivery. Specific information and assessment tasks will relate to Elements 1, 2 & 3: learning and calculation exercises are related directly to developed textile products & current market-precinct orientation.

Learning acitivities will consist of group collaborations and individual task submissions. Due to intensive-style delivery, relevant information will be placed on Blackboard.

Blended learning of co-requisite & linked subjects consisting of market research, classroom activities of practical cost consideration & calculation workshops for textile design & product development.

Each element will be considered in delivery and subsequent learning.

Assessment tasks include investigation, identification, analysis, calculation exercises, documentation & reporting.

Overview of Assessment

To achieve successful completion of this course students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of competency.

Assessment tasks have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner.

Students will be awarded a grade only if competency has been demonstrated within the standard enrolment period on the first assessment attempt.

Units assessed as ’not yet competent’ on a first assessment attempt and ’competent’ on a second or subsequent attempt are to have results amended to competent but are not eligible for grading.

Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher.
All work must be submitted by the due date. Late submission will not be graded higher than a PASS.

Late submission will not be graded higher than a PASS.
