Course Description

 

This course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge required tocost the production of textile designs.

Element:	1. Analyse options for textile production
Performance Criteria:	1.1 Production requirements are analysed to determine scale of production 1.2 Options for the production of textiles are determined in line with product specifications 1.3 Information on cost of each option is gathered and data is analysed 1.4 Production options are compared in terms of their cost benefits and cost negatives 1.5 Information from previous production records are reviewed and compared with current options in terms of cost, and in line with quality outcomes 1.6 Potential options are selected and relevant information documented
Element:	2. Assess influences on production costs
Performance Criteria:	2.1 Factors that may affect cost of production are determined 2.2 Quality and industry standards for design production are identified and implications for production assessed 2.3 Production options are considered in line with OHS practices 2.4 Influences on production costs are assessed and initial costing modified 2.5 Production options are reviewed in line with additional information and most suitable options refined.
Element:	3. Develop and analyse costing sheets for textile production
Performance Criteria:	3.1 Costing sheets are completed for selected production options 3.2 Calculations are checked and data is collated 3.3 Data from costing sheets is interpreted to assess most cost efficient option from production, in line with design and quality requirements 3.4 Cost analysis is documented and presented to appropriate personnel to review suitability of options 3.5 Cost analysis is finalized and all documentation is completed

Details of Learning Activities

This course is delivered as a clustered course with MANU 5923c Source textile materials and resources.

2 projects need to be completed to achieve competency;

Project 1 source materials and identify suppliers for sample design, worth 30%

and

Project 2 cost a textile product, worth 70%

learning activiites will include; using appropriate terminology, analysing case studies, group discussions, research, presentations, preparing and documenting information.

Overview of Assessment

 To achieve successful completion of this course students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of competency.

 Assessment tasks have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner.

Students will be awarded a grade only if competency has been demonstrated within the standard enrolment period on the first assessment attempt.

Units assessed as ’not yet competent’ on a first assessment attempt and ’competent’ on a second or subsequent attempt are to have results amended to competent but are not eligible for grading.

Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher.
All work must be submitted by the due date. Late submission will not be graded higher than a PASS.

Assessment for these units consists of two projects.

Project 1 source materials and identify suppliers for sample design, worth 30%

and

Project 2 cost a textile product, worth 70%

Please refer to the individual project briefs for assessment criteria and grading matrix. To achieve successful completion of these programs, students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of competency.
All work for each project must be completed and submitted to your teacher by the due date to be eligible for assessment and grading. Late work will be assessed as competent or not yet competent only and will not be graded. Work submitted more than one week after the due date will be assessed as not yet competent. Please refer to your induction kit for further information on the conditions of assessment.
