Overview of Assessment

To achieve successful completion of this course students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of competency.

Assessment tasks have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner.

Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including:

  • Submission and presentation of Project Briefs and Folios
  • Technical folders and documentation
  • Oral and writtenpresentations

Details of Assessment will be provided with project biref in class sessions

Students will be awarded a grade only if competency has been demonstrated within the standard enrolment period on the first assessment attempt.
Units assessed as ‘not yet competent’ on a first assessment attempt and ‘competent’ on a second or subsequent attempt are to have results amended to competent but are not eligible for grading.

Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher.
All work must be submitted by the due date.
Late submissions will not be graded higher than a PASS.

Assessment Tasks

Design and Develop a Textile Product -  50% - Due Week 15.

Process and Technical file – 50% - Due Week 15.

Other Information

studio practice:

You are reminded you must follow appropriate Studio Practice; observe safe work practices, consider the safety of others and the correct handling of equipment and resources. You will be assessed on your demonstration of responsible workshop practice, correct handling of resources. All work is due at the commencement of class on the Due Date.

illness, absence, inability:

If you are unable to complete class work due to illness please notify your class teacher immediately. If you are absent from class you are asked to follow the correct procedure as stated in the RMIT Induction Booklet and notify your class teacher of any absence before the absence occurs. If, due to an illness you are unable to catch up on work missed during scheduled classes, you are encouraged to meet with the Program Coordinator to complete a personal study plan. If an extended absence is expected you are encouraged to apply for special consideration (see RMIT website) to gain an extension of time to complete project work.
