Course Description

This unit covers the skills and knowledge to identify key production processes within a textiles, clothing and footwear (TCF) sector.

The unit applies to all sectors in the TCF industry. It may be applied to a specific sector but must include production processes and flow of product from raw materials through to distribution.
The unit applies to working in the TCF industry and includes identification of applicable legislation, guidelines and workplace practices for the relevant sector.

Details of Learning Activities

Classroom activities including lectures, tutorials, on-line activities, workshops where students are challenged to reflect and debate on different value positions, concepts and issues.
You will be required to participate in case study learning, problem solving activities, self-reflection and discussion.
Activities will encourage both individual and group based learning responsibilities
You will be required to attend off campus industry visits and to guest speakers from varied TCF industries.

2. Overview of the TCF industry – what makes up the TCF industry. Industry representatives.

Introduction to Assessment Task 1: Industry Research Report.

3. Overview of the TCF industry - Legislation & Guidelines discussed. Introduction to Research Methods -

begin research into Australian representatives in the TCF Industry from Government, Union through to Associations and Industry Bodies.

4. Organise and Plan Own Work / introduction to timelines & workplans. Assessment Task 2 introduced. Class time to begin research task.

5. Labour Day Public Holiday – no class

6. Overview of the TCF industry - Production concepts discussed in relation to the TCF Industry.

Overview of Assessment

To achieve successful completion of this course students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of competency.

Assessment tasks have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner.

Students will be awarded a grade only if competency has been demonstrated within the standard enrolment period on the first assessment attempt.

Units assessed as ’not yet competent’ on a first assessment attempt and ’competent’ on a second or subsequent attempt are to have results amended to competent but are not eligible for grading.

Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher.
All work must be submitted by the due date. Late submission will not be graded higher than a PASS.
