Course Description

This course covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage a straightforward project or a section of a larger project including production aspects of film and television production.

Learning Outcomes


On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to manage your own film/video production project and actively participate in other projects in a range of roles. You will have learned the practical application of a range of industry procedures for planning and launching a production.

Overview of Assessment

A range of assessments will be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. You will participate in a range of class workshops and on location products that will help equip you with the skills to successfully manage a film production, using industry procedures.
 


Assessment Tasks

You will each write/produce/direct a film of up to 5-7 minutes in duration and complete post production and delivery within the scheduled time allocated to you.
The class Filming Schedule has been posted on Blackboard.

A range of assessment will be used to assess practical skills and knowledge.  You will participate in a range of class workshops and on location productions that will help equip you with the skills to successfully manage a film production, using industry procedures.

You will demonstrate:

  • a professional approach to advising and maintaining lines of communication with all parties involved in the production of the Major Project, e.g. local government, Police, location providers, etc.
  • a professional approach to time and organisational management
  • and initiate and organise production meetings with relevant student colleagues.

Assignments will be divided between Formative Assessment (not graded) and Summative Assessment (graded).
Each of the following assessment tasks must be completed by each student in the process of their production.

Production Wikis will be created on Blackboard.  Students will post their pre-production and other paperwork in these Wikis by the due dates (mentioned below).  All work must be clearly labelled with your name and title of production.
