Course Description
In this course you look at the skills and knowledge required to direct television programs and segments in a multi camera studio environment.
You also familiarize yourself with the general skills required by other production crew roles in TV studio production. You work collaboratively within a production team in order to meet deadlines.
Direct television programs and segments CUFDRT401A will be delivered in conjunction with Ensure a safe workplace BSBOHS509A but will be assessed separately.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and course content is assessed through written assignments and participation in practical exercises.
Assessment Tasks
You must submit all pieces of assessment in order for your competency to be assessed in this course.
This course will be delivered and assessed in conjunction with BSBOHS509A Ensure a safe workplace.
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this unit are graded.
To demonstrate competency in this course you need to complete each one of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard.
FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT TASKS:
1. Presentation to camera segment - Due weeks 4 and 5 of Semester 1
2. Conduct studio based interview segment - Due weeks 7 and 8 of Semester 1
3. Produce a performance segment - Due weeks 10 and 11 of Semester 1
SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT TASK:
4. Production of a studio based television program - Due weeks 14, 15 and 16 of Semester 1

In line with this requirement the majority content of your film productions must be approved and signed off by your production supervisor (a Screen and Media teacher) by the required due dates.
Attendance
The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that students attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.

Work Placement:
It is a requirement of this program that all students participate in authentic work related tasks. These may be either simulated or in a real work environment. On occasion, we are approached by industry and given opportunities for students to apply for short term placements.
