Course Description

This unit covers the skills and knowledge to develop patterns for use in the production of complex fashion garments with advanced styling requirements.


Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

(LMTCL3009B - Develop patterns from a block using basic patternmaking principles
AND
LMTFD4010B - Create pattern to meet design specifications applying advanced patternmaking principles
AND
LMTFD4015B - Create pattern from block to meet customer specifications

Learning Outcomes

On sucessful completion of this course the student will have developed the required skills and knowledge in planning and organisingrequired to to develop patterns. Problem solving skills are required to determine and apply suitable patternmaking principles to achieve design requirements and identify any pattern problems. Communication and numeracy skills are used to interpret designs and develop and document pattern specifications. Self management skills are used to ensure safe use of technology and conformance of work to quality standards.

This course comprises both practical and theory components. You will be expected to attend and participate in class activities.

As well as class activities you will be required to undertake research and assessment practice outside of regular class times and participate in formal assessment tasks.
