Course Description
This unit covers the skills and knowledge to produce fashion illustrations to visually communicate the fashion figure in a variety of poses and silhouettes.

Workbench and seating are set up according to OHS practices. Drawing tools and equipment are selected and prepared. |

Reference source appropriate to illustration requirements is selected. Reference source is collaged to assist in illustration process. Compositional balance, scale and perspective are analysed. |

A variety of illustration techniques are identified for use in presenting fashion illustration. Appropriate media are selected. |

Performance Criteria: |
Proportion, scale and stylisation relevant to fashion illustration are selected. Clean, confident and stylised lines are used in presenting representation of fashion figure. A variety of silhouettes and poses are illustrated. Illustration of clothed fashion figure is produced. |

Performance Criteria: |
Illustration is inspected against quality standards. Any changes or adjustments to sketches are carried out as required. Documentation relating to fashion illustration is completed and stored. |
Learning Outcomes
On sucessful completion of this course requires the learner to develop the skill and knowledge required to produce fashion illustrations to visually communicate the fashion figure in a variety of poses and silhouettes using stylised drawing and rendering techniques.
Learning also requires the development of skills in planning and organising, problem solving and communication to interpret specifications and produce illustrations. Self management skills are required to ensure illustrations meet quality standards.
Details of Learning Activities
OHS practices OHS practices must include hazard identification and control, risk assessment and implementation of risk reduction measures specific to the tasks described by this unit and may

• safe materials handling
• taking of rest breaks
• ergonomic arrangement of workplaces

• safe storage of equipment
• housekeeping
• reporting accidents and incidents
• other OHS practices relevant to the job and enterprise
Draping tools and equipment may include
• model form
• narrow tape
• tape measure
• pen/pencil
• scissors
• rule
• marker pens
• hole punch
• pins
• triangle square
• French curve
• pattern notcher
• weights
Working drawing • design lines as depicted in the fashion sketch that are then transferred onto the model form using narrow tape
Fabric must be
• the fabric of the final garment or a fabric that has the same handle or drape
Fabric handling qualities may include
• fall
• stretch
• stability
• drape
Drape plan may include
• adding fullness (pleats, tucks, gathers)
• multiple darts/division of darts
• symmetric and/or asymmetric design features
• cowls, twists, knots

Week 2 - wk 5 Fashion figure featuring fashion garments - development
Week 6- wk 10 Mixed media trials demonstrating various fabrics/weights
Week 11- Assessment 1 due. Folio.
Week 12 - wk 14 Dress assignment as per Design Studio 2
Week 15 - Layout and presentation of 3 best Fashion Illustrations (1x featuring Design Studio 2 dress)
Week 16- Assessment 2 due, class presentation

Overview of Assessment
Detailed course and assessment requirements and information will be made available to you first week of class. Specific details will be explained to you during scheduled classes.
This course comprises both practical and theory components. You will be expected to attend and participate in class activities.
As well as class activities you will be required to undertake research and assessment practice outside of regular class times and participate in formal assessment tasks.
PLEASE NOTE: work that has not been authenticated during class as your own work will not be considered for assessment.

Assessment 2 - Present 3 of the best fashion illustrations. 1of the illustrations must be a Spring Racing Carnival Dress as per Design Studio 2 Design brief
