You will explore the knowledge and skills required to work within community and government structures to enable community development processes.

Details of Learning Activities
You will be involved in learning activities in a day long workshop which will include group discussions and group work activities based on workshop content. You will also be required to undertake independent studies. Reflection on your own work context is a significant aspect of this course and you will be given opportunities to discuss and think about your own practice.

Overview of Assessment
The assessment activities for this course require you to demonstrate your skills and knowledge about the influence and impact of organisational structures, policies and management systems on Community development activities and how you have represented and promoted community development activities within the organisation. You will also be required to demonstrate your understanding of the Australian government and it’s systems in relation to funding opportunities, legal frameworks and policies. Assessment includes written responses embedded within the project portfolio, a presentation to the class and a written report. Assessment is ongoing throughout the course.
Assessment Tasks
For this course you will be required to complete 3 assessment tasks:
Task 1: Provide a written response to specific questions represented in Part B of your project portfolio.
Task 2: Prepare information as part of an overall presentation to your class members about your community development organisation, it’s philosophy and purpose and provide an explanation of the funding arrangements for the project work/activities you have supported your group to undertake.
Task 3: Develop an organisational chart representing your organisation documenting governance structures and roles and responsibilites wihin the organisation.
