Course Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop and extend skills as a practising designer.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement.

Overview of Assessment

Evidence of the following is essential:
• development of own voice through exploring and experimenting with new ideas in making and/or interpreting work
• application of planned strategies to develop appropriate skills in design practice
• use of discussion and evaluation opportunities to inform and develop technical and conceptual skills.


Assessment Tasks

  • Attend Exhibition and any related events that interest you
  • Gather revelvant information for discussion in class.
  • Visit design websites  as covered in class and log on or register
  • Participate successfully in a class activities
  • Attend industry related events as specified following class discussion and agreement
  • Complete successful letter using draft
  • Complete successful resume using draft provided
  • Complete a succssful interview and folio presentation
  • Attend and take notes - guest speakers

Demonstrate that a resource folder has been produced which contatins evidence of progresive and continuous research into the design industry.  This includes exhibitions, seminars, mentor times, conferences and presentations

Attendance:
The major learning experience involves studio based exercises, demonstration and production. It is strongly advised that students attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to gain the competency.
