Course Description

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to evaluate contract specifications and information and to prepare tender documents associated with projects in the building and construction industries. Knowledge of tender preparation and interpretation of project demands and requirements and the capability to bring together a body of diverse information are essential. How to find the information and present it in a manner that meets organisational needs in short timeframes is important, as is the ability to manage time effectively.

2.2. Company procedures and instructions are followed in the preparation of the tender.

Overview of Assessment

This unit of competency could be assessed by the preparation of complete tender documentation for a construction contract. Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including written,oral, practical tasks and activities. You will be asked to personally demonstrate to your teacher/assessor the practical skills gained during this course to the relevant industry standards. Assessment activities will occur throughout this course and feedback will be provided at regular intervals.

Competency requirements and Grading:

To be deemed competent students must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a competency. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over multiple tasks.

Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. Observation of students performing work is used to confirm competency.

All assessments for this course must be completed to achieve CAG (Competent with Pass) to pass this course. In any assessment 50% equates to being Competent with Pass.
Higher gradings are available. The final grade for the course is calculated taking into account the weighting given to the separate assessments.

CC 60 to 69 – Competent with credit
