Course Description
In this course you will be required to produce creative and innovative photo images using photo lighting principles.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment tasks in this course include: written assessments and practical tasks.
Assessment Tasks
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this unit are graded.

To demonstrate competency in this course, you need to complete each one of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard.
Formative Assessment
There are 2 tasks to complete. Each task will comprise of the following:
Task 1: Research/Planning. Due week 9
This assessment is based on the collaborative research that you did with the Comm Design students. In particular, you are required to supply the six (6) images from this research. This will provide the basis for your shoot in Emotive Lighting.
The first step is to discuss with your teacher the proposed shoot based around these images, covering:
•Lighting techniques
•Style
•Format
This will be done in class. You will be provided with feedback from your teacher and peers on your proposal.
Task 2: Execution. Due week 12.
Execute shoot in Emotive lighting (this class)
You will be assessed on your studio practice including:
•set-up,
•team work lighting techniques,
•styling and
•camera craft .
This will be done in the studio under supervision.
Final Image/s
Produce one (1) image according to the brief. You will be provided with feedback on your image from your teacher and your peers.
Summative Final assessment: Due week 16.
You are require to submit your final images to the client for each of the 2 briefs: Food and Portrait of an Artist
Submit all final images assessments as per specifications on the RMIT C5041 Server.
