Course Description

In this unit you will develop the skills and knowledge required to explore the use of colour and to apply colour theory.

Part 1. Colour Tests

Complete online colour tests. Be sure to save or screenshot results as evidence.  

Part 2. Colour Theory Resource File

Create a resource file of colour reference tools to refer to for design projects including colour types, colour relationships, colour meanings and colour names

Part 3. Chosen Colour Mood Board

1 board exploring the use of a chosen colour. Include information on colour use and meaning. 

Part 4. Colour Relationships

Find and photograph 3 examples for each of the 6 colour relationships (Monochromatic, Complementary, Split Complementary, Double Complementary, Analogous, Triad). Caption the images with the colour names and meanings.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills.
Assessment tasks are:
Exercises and one major project 

Please note: All Assessment tasks need to be completed before competency is achieved. A number of tasks will be formative to show your progress and development of skills and knowledge throughout the semester. The final task will be summative to provide a level of performance in addition to your competency.
